C.A.Rs Program (Community Action Rides) Through a partnership with Greylock Federal Credit Union and local car dealers, BCAC offers $8,000-$10,000, low-interest loans for purchase of reliable used cars. Loan applicants must complete financial coaching with Greylock and will learn budgeting, attain financial literacy skills, increase their FICO credit score, and learn how to work with banks and lenders. The C.A.Rs initiative will require that participants “Pay it Forward” by offering rides to other income eligible commuters, helping to strengthen and expand the transportation safety net in our county.

CENTSABILITY:   Financial Literacy classes and case management sets a goal of decreasing the number of repeat customers seeking services and resources from the agency.  Workshops provide resources, tools, and support to individuals and families to assist them in gaining financial control of their lives. Information is delivered in separate sessions focusing on distinct topics. The number of classes required varies with each individual and their needs.  Topics such as budgeting, including completing a budget, obtaining and using credit, credit reports, credit scores, and credit repair are covered.

MICRO-LOANSBCAC offers small, low interest loans through partnerships with Greylock Federal Credit Union ($1,000-$1,500, primarily intended to support securing, maintaining, or furnishing stable housing) and Berkshire Bank (up to $500, open use). These loans help those who may not be able to access traditional bank loans to build/re-build credit, and include coaching to help recipients build financial literacy.
